How to Make Cashew Butter

  • Yield: about 1 1/4 cups 1x


  • 2 1/2 cups cashews
  • OPTIONAL: sea salt, vanilla powder, honey to taste


  1. Place cashews into bowl of food processor and process for about 2 minutes. Stop and scrape the sides and process again.
  2. Continue to process until you have a thick, creamy consistency about 15-20 minutes, scraping the sides as necessary. Be patient. It will happen. Time and heat will allow the rich oils from the cashew to be released to create a smooth nut butter. Be sure to give your food processor a break if it feels like it’s getting too hot.
  3. If adding salt, vanilla, or honey, add during last few minutes of processing.
  4. Transfer to airtight glass jar and store in the fridge.
