It’s cold. It’s rainy. It’s winter time here in Northern California. When the weather gets chilly, I make soup. And today, I am sharing with you 28 of My Favorite Nourishing Paleo Soups.
What make a soup Paleo? Well, first off, no grains. And no dairy. And no legumes. What’s left is nourishing meats and vegetables to warm and comfort your soul on cold winter days. I eat very little raw food in the winter as winter time is a time to eat warm, cooked, hearty foods to keep us grounded and nourished. Paleo soups are my favorite comfort food on chilly winter days.
Soup Making Tip #1
Always have homemade bone broth ready to go in the freezer. A nutrient-dense bone broth is the back bone to any great soup. Loaded with minerals, nutrient, collagen/gelatin, homemade bone broth is an amazing digestive aid and immune supporter. Read more HERE about the benefits of bone broth.
I make bone broth about every 10 days or so at my house. I save bones from the pastured and grass fed meats that we eat in the freezer. When I run out of homemade broth, I start up the crock pot and let the bones simmer for 24-48 hours. I freeze it in quart-sized portions for when I am making a soup or need some for a sauce or gravy. See my easy recipe HERE.
