So many healthy smoothies for you today….
My life just got kicked into high gear- in a good way. I may have mentioned that our family took a leap of faith last year and sold our home and bought a raw piece of land to build a new home on. Well…. fast forward one year and we are about to break ground. WooHoo! It’s exciting and a bit overwhelming at the same time.
That being said, I feel busier than usual and have less time to be home and in the kitchen. Quick and easy meals and snacks are more important than ever. I’m not usually one to live off of smoothies, but I’m finding that during this busy season in my life, they are life savers.
So today I’m sharing with you 10 of my most favorite healthy smoothies that have been keeping me fueled and happy while we work together with our contractor to create the healthiest and most fabulous home for our family. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to land on this sweet little spot in Northern California and call it our home. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on our progress as we start putting in the septic system and building the foundation.
My goal is to create a healthy home on a budget. If you’ve ever built a home or even remodeled an older one, you know that this is no easy feat. By healthy, I mean the least amount of harmful chemicals and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) as possible. The off-gassing from these things can be a problem and can cause health issues for people living in the home. I’ll definitely blog about how we are doing this as the process moves along. Here’s a peak at our new land:
I’m a big fan of adding extras to my smoothies to make them nutrient-dense. Healthy fats and protein helps keep me full and satisfied during my busy days. My favorite add in are:
- 1 tablespoon of coconut butter for healthy fats (I like THIS brand)
- half of an avocado for healthy fats and super creamy texture
- steamed and frozen cauliflower for creamy texture and to replace bananas (when I’m trying to reduce sugar)
- 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds = 10 grams of protein (I like THIS brand)
- 1 tablespoon of collagen peptides = 9 grams of protein (I like THIS pasture-raised brand)
- cacao nibs for fun flavor and antioxidants (like this)
I would love to hear if you have any other ways to supercharge your smoothies. This is going to be a long process and I’m envisioning lots of quick and easy smoothies in my future. Please share in the comments.
xo,
Katja
